Cheryl trained in Zen Yoga.
She has, in the past, worked at David Lloyd as a teacher but now incorporates these delightful additions to her repertoire as part of the relaxation sessions within her Urban retreats and Women's Quest workshops. Read more on the Urban retreats section of this site.
She often offers yoga or meditation exercises for homework in her clinical work where appropriate.
Zen Yoga
Zen Yoga and meditation comes from a very special ancestry. Our main teacher, Julian Daizan Skinner Roshi, studied in Zen monasteries for about two decades, eventually becoming the first Englishman to go to Japan and become a full Zen Master in the Rinzai tradition. In this time he practiced the meditations and physical practices of Zen monastery life – practices designed to foster health, well-being, and physical and mental strength, as well as liberating insights into who and what we really are.
In 2007 Daizan returned to the UK to share what he'd learned. He began teaching extensively in London and throughout the UK. He has taught at search engine giant Google and universities such as Oxford and University College London (UCL).
Daizan and his students have worked together to create Zen Yoga to be a place where people can come together to practice and share in the benefits of these wonderful practices. Every single member of the team is committed to helping you to achieve your goals whether these are in the area of health, vitality, or development on a deeper level.
Cheryl has studied in depth with Julian “Daizan” Skinner Roshi and continues to take inspiration from his teachings, his master classes and his writings.
